Zigmund “Ski” Krivitsky, Jr. was born on September 4, 1942, in Ellsworth, Pennsylvania to Zigmund Krivitsky, Sr. and Mary Chernesky.
After graduating from high school in 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as an Altitude Chamber Specialist at Andrews Air Force Base from 1960-1964. On August 17, 1963, he married the love of his life, Marianne Grigas and settled in Bryans Road, Maryland.
After completing his military service, he began work at the U.S. Census Bureau as a temporary GS-3 computer clerk. In 1972, he graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park. In 1992, he retired from the U.S. Census Bureau, Research Division as a GM-14 Systems Analyst and received the Bronze Medal Award (the highest honorary award from the U.S. Census Bureau) for his work in computer mapping and artificial intelligence.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Ronald Krivitsky (Mary Jo), and sister Yvonne (Robert Orsatti). He is survived by his sister Gloria (Larry Smitsky); sister-in-law Dorothy Quinton; sons Darrin (Pam) and Daniel (Amber); granddaughters Melana Krivitsky and Emily Boswell; and many nieces and nephews.
He faithfully attended the St. Mary Star of The Sea Catholic Church in Indian Head, Maryland and served as an usher. He also served his community as a Cub Scout leader and Little League baseball coach and was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his family and friends, word searches and could always beat you in Jeopardy.
