William A. Turner, 81, of LaPlata, died August 19, 2021. He was born in Washington, DC to Frederick Filmore "Philip" Turner and Mary Ruth Posey Turner on October 14, 1939.
He is survived by his wife, Dena Flynn Turner, whom he married on May 30, 1959, his daughter Sharon Farrell (Jeff), grandchildren Jeanne Edelen (Greg), Brian Jones, Shelby Turner, Zachary Turner, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Bennie Turner, Betty Lou Greer, Barbara Bowie, Kay Rison, Judy Arata and Nancy Porada and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his son William "Junior" Turner, and his brothers Filmore and Pat Turner.
Billy's greatest love was his family and working the family farm with his brothers. He and his wife Dena enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle around the county and on long trips
with friends. He also enjoyed his job as a welder and welding foreman at the National Zoo.
Visitation on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the funeral home from 4 PM to 8 PM, with prayers at 7 PM.
Mass on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pomfret, MD at 11 AM, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
