We are celebrating the life of our beloved sister, Toni Patricia (Patty) Sammons. Patty’s health had declined in recent years; she was tired and finally gave up the fight on February 22, 2021 at the age of 68.
Patty was born on June 8, 1952 to Daniel and Retha Sammons along with her twin brother Michael at Bolling AFB in Washington, DC. She is preceded in death by both parents and her younger brother Mitch (and his daughter Christine). Patty was blessed with a large family of brothers and sisters – Edward, Dee, Danny, Mike, Amy, and Mitch. Her numerous siblings provided her with seven nephews but only one niece and now 17 surviving great nephews and nieces.
She graduated from Lackey High School in 1971. Patty was a retired civil service employee with 25 years’ service at NSWC Indian Head. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church of our Savior in Bryans Road. Although her health kept her from attending church services as much as she would like, her faith was forever strong and unwavering. She was also a member of the local chapter of the Women of the Moose for many years. Patty enjoyed many things in life such as camping, baking, crocheting, spoiling her nephews/niece and great nephews and nieces. Patty was always humble, never self-serving and always put others before herself.
A memorial service will be held to honor Patty’s life on Friday, March 5th at 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of our Savior, 7365 Indian Head Hwy., Bryans Road. Family, friends, and guests may start arriving at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to her church in memory of Toni P. Sammons.
