Steven “Big Steve” Eugene Hall, 59, beloved Friend and Family man passed away at home on February 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 26, 1965, Steve was the rock in the storm that was his family.
In 1983, Steve graduated from Ryken High School. He worked various jobs including bouncer, running his family’s store The Country Place, at the hospital and various construction jobs before settling in as a Supervisor at the US Senate SAA where he retired in 2024.
Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was hardly ever seen without a piece of camo on his body. He enjoyed taking many hunting trips all over the U.S. with his Mahaffey brothers.
Beyond his love for the outdoors, Steve was known for his larger-than-life personality. No matter where he traveled, he always ran into someone he knew or was able to quickly make a new friend. His quick wit and humorous stories where sure to make everyone laugh and he always claimed to be the funniest man you had ever met.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Donald Hall and Aunt Rose Essex. He is survived by his mother, Mary McCassie; wife Nancy; children Helen Elizabeth and Steven Vincent; sister Donna Cobb; brothers-n-law John Cobb and Matthew Verhun; sisters-n-law Tammi Verhun, Brooke Norris and Brittany Gillespie; nieces Abigail Cobb, Lila Verhun and Lily Verhun; nephew Garrett Cobb; Uncle John Blandford; and numerous cousins.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at the Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department, 4260 Port Tobacco Road, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM. We invite you to come share your favorite memories and stories as we honor Steve’s amazing life. In honor of Steve everyone is requested to wear camo or flannel to the celebration.
