Ronald John Smith know to all as Ronnie, 63, of Indian Head passed away peacefully on Friday March 5, 2021 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, MD with family at his side.
Ronnie was born February 12, 1958, in Washington D.C. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin I. and Patricia A. Smith of Bryans Road, MD, and one brother Timothy M. Smith, also from Bryans Road, MD.
He worked for the DC government. He was a wastewater treatment operator for DC WASA, formerly known as Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, for 30+ years before he retired to become a stay-at-home dad.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Linda M. Smith and his 6 children John T. Smith, Ronald J. Smith, Jr., Mary S. Smith, Patricia A. Smith, Michael W. Smith, Sarah M. Smith and his one grandson Weston J. Smith and his brother Melvin I. Smith, Jr. (Sherrie). In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home at on Thursday March 11, 2021, from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 PM. Internment St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, MD.
Pallbearers will be John T. Smith, Ronald J. Smith Jr., Michael W. Smith, Melvin I. Smith III, Chance E. Wynne and Austin T. Robey. Honorary pallbearers will be Weston J. Smith and Melvin I. Smith, Jr.
