Robert "Bobby" Richmond Obituary

Robert “Bobby” Richmond age 89 went home to be with the heavenly father on Monday, November 21, 2022.

Robert was born on August 7, 1933 in Covington, Virginia  He was the son of the late Pete and Margaret Richmond.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife Violet Richmond, daughter Patricia Richmond, son Jerry Richmond, brother George Richmond and sister Mary May. 

He is survived by his daughter Dinnia Simons, Larry Simmons (son in law). Grandchildren Jerry Richmond II, Patrina Richmond Webb and husband Cody Webb, Jamie Richmond and Jeremy Richmond, Daniel Simmons Sr, and wife Tiffani Simmons, Dant’e Simmons. Great-grandchildren: Lexie Richmond, Brandon Richmond, Emily Richmond, Destini Simmons, Daniel Simmons, Jr., Josiah Simmons, Jacob Simmons, Savanna Thomas, Justin Thomas, Jonathon Thomas, Great-Great-grandchildren: Legacy Adney, Isaiah Vaughan . Bobby's longtime partner of 50 years Lorene Freeman.  Bobby leaves behind many family and friends. 

Bobby worked in Virginia as a Sawmill worker to help take care of his family, his mother and sister.  Bobby met his soon to be wife Violet Nichols. They got married on May 10, 1955.  They started a family, they had a son on December 7, 1955.  Bobby and his family moved to Maryland to start a new life.  Bobby started working at the Nanjemoy Sawmill and became a Foreman. Bobby and Violet had a daughter in 1957. The family was growing and in 1964 they had one more child a daughter.  Bobby worked for the Sawmill in Nanjemoy for 40 years until the Sawmill closed in 1995. Bobby then went to work for Melwood in Nanjemoy as a groundkeeper for 3 years.  Bobby retired in 1998.

Bobby was a die-hard Nascar Fan.  He loved to watch football as long as they can beat the Cowboys.  Bobby liked to listen to country music. He was a big fan of Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe.  When Bobby was a child, he enjoyed hunting and making things out of wood with his little pocketknife.  Bobby’s famous saying was “I lived a good life.”

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 11 AM until time of funeral service at 1 PM.  Interment Nanjemoy Baptist Church cemetery.
