Rik Van Renterghem, 69, of Bryans Road, Maryland passed away in his home on June 25, 2025 due to complications from a long illness.
Rik was born on November 11, 1955 to Rudolph (Rudy) and Kathleen (Kay) Van Renterghem in New York, New York.
After graduating from Utica High School in 1973, he eventually joined the Air Force and learned how to be a power lineman. He went on to have a long and fruitful career in electrical work, working his way up from lineman to lead instrument technician at a power plant.
In 1972 he met Nancy Armentrout, they wed in 1976, had one child, Jennifer, and divorced in 1994.
After retiring in 2019, Rik spent his time hiking with his dog, cheering on the Washington Redskins/Commanders, and taking vacations with family and friends to places both rural and exotic.
Rik is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his child, Jennifer; his brothers, Randy and Kevin; and his former spouse, Nancy.
Interment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, Maryland on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 1:45 PM. Those wishing to attend should arrive at 1:35 PM.
