Michele Lee Samuel

Michele Lee Samuel, 76 of LaPlata MD, departed this life on February 7, 2021 at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.  She was born on August 27, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA to the late William Henry Jones and the late Edna M. Gobble.  Michele’s  education started in Pittsburg, PA until the age of 8, when her family moved to Washington, DC.  After completing high school in the DC Public School system, she was employed with the federal government until retiring in 1980.  She attended the Hannah Harrison School of Nursing where she received her LPN in August 1984 and later earned her RN Degree from Charles County Community College in May 1995.

Michele accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age.  She was baptized at the age of 12 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Washington, DC.  After moving to LaPlata, MD, she joined Zion Baptist Church of Welcome, MD.  Michele served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Daughters of Zion, Nurses Ministry, and the Singles Ministry. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.

In her spare time, she delivered Meals on Wheels, crocheted baby sweater sets, afghans and other unique items. Michele enjoyed participating in craft fairs, sewing, watching her favorite TV shows, playing games on her phone and hanging out with her church members.  But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherron M. Bennett.  She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories of a life well-lived: daughter, Cheryl A. Moats (Arthur); two grandchildren; Jasmin C. Watson and Darrin J. Watson; a great-granddaughter, Kalyn M. Ashton; her favorite cousin, Ardena Cowan and a host of family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 15, 2021 at the funeral home at 11 AM until time funeral services at 12 PM.  Internment Zion Baptist Church, Welcome, MD.
