Michael Andrew Sparks, 70, of Hughesville, MD, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2023 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Michael was born on March 29, 1953 in Elkin, North Carolina. He proudly served the United States Air Force for 20 years, 4 months, and 18 days. He retired from active duty but continued to serve the Air Force for another 25 years as a contractor under Son's Quality Food Company where he was a valued and well-liked member of their team.

Michael loved cooking, hunting, fishing, and NASCAR. He was a warrior who survived cancer 7 times before finally succumbing to the 8th. He did not have any children but loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He will be dearly missed.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, of 25 years, Patricia Ann Joyce, his father Ora Andrew Sparks, and his brother James Ora Sparks. He leaves behind his first and second nieces and nephews Bradley, Shannon, Chris, Linsey, Aiden, Sophia and Fiona.

Services will be held on July 15, 2023 at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until time of funeral at 3 PM. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Michael was a practical man with a generous heart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
