Mary Louise Barclay Kelly Pittman, 96, formerly of Indian Head & LaPlata, MD, died peacefully in her sleep on November 30, 2021 after a two year battle with dementia.
Mary was born February 25, 1925 in Holtwood, PA to Allison John Barclay and Helen Mary Shaub.
She graduated in 1942 from Perryville High School, in Perryville, Maryland. She married Charles M. Kelly in 1943 and had the unique opportunity to live all over the world due to his 20 year Naval military career. They finally settled in Indian Head, MD in 1962. Mary and Charles “Bus” had three daughters, Cynthia “Cynne” Marie, Janet Leigh and Nancy Dee. Mary retired from Indian Head Naval Base as a Security Clerk. She was a lifelong member of St. James' Episcopal Church in Indian Head, MD.
After her husband’s untimely death in 1980, Mary married Joseph Pittman in 1985 and her family expanded to include three step-daughters: Joanne, Jackie and Merilee, along with their spouses and children.
She loved the Lord and her family deeply, playing blackjack and watching her beloved Nats baseball team. Mary was always up for a good party and had a large social circle. Before her decline in health, she would love to attend any and every event for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her daughters Cynne Whitewolf of Fredericksburg, VA, Nancy (Jack) Williams of Solomons, MD, son-in-law Paul Bell of Bel Air, MD, Step-daughters Joann (lan) Sparks of England and Merilee (Pat) of Florida. She has 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Charles M. Kelly, Joe Pittman, her daughter Janet Bell, her step-daughter Jackie Entwistle, her grandson Aaron Whitewolf, her son-in-law Fagan Whitewolf and eight brothers and sisters.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will be on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10 AM at St. James' Episcopal Church. Light refreshments will be served after the service in the Parish Hall, where the family will greet guests. The family will be departing at 11:30 for a private committal service at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Perryville, MD at 2 PM.
