Mary Esther Behe McNiece passed away in her home in the morning on Sunday, April 26, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She will remain forever in the heart of her family as we honor the life of our mother.
Mary was born January 7, 1936, at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC, to Esther and Walter Behe. She married David Lee McNiece and had six children. She traveled with her husband and children to many places through her husband's job, such as Taipei, Taiwan, Asmara, Ethiopia, Africa.
Mary is Preceded in death by her husband, David Lee McNiece, Sr, her parents Walter and Esther Behe, her siblings, Johnny, Sara, Ruth, Walter, Alfred, Donald, Patrick, Frances, and Brian, and her daughter-in-law Alicia McNiece, and her son-in-law Walter Bucia.
Mary is survived by her children, Debra Irene (Charles) Finch, David Lee McNiece, Jr., Bridget Anne (Daniel) DelGrosso, Melissa Anne Bucia, Charlotte Marie Beck, and Margaret Ellen (Perry) McNiece-Boland, her grandchildren Joseph (Sherry) Weiss, Derrick (Makayla) Finch, Gabrielle (Arron) Witt, Erica (Eustace) Stapler, Brittany (Michael) Strasburg, Mathew Bucia, Erin (Brandon) Jenkins, Ashley Beck, Natalie Beck, Hailey Beck, Kyle (Christina) McNiece, Caitlin (Kenneth) Dodson; step-grandchildren Heather Russell, Christopher Finch, Stephen Finch, Freddie Velez, Jeffrey (Carra) DelGrosso, Brian DelGrosso, Caryn Bucia, Jon Foster, as well as 13 great grandchildren, and 9 step-great grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Piscataway on Thursday June 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD at 1:00 PM.
