Mary Kirk Gobbett

Mary Kirk Gobbett, 73, of Greenbelt, Maryland died March 15, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Agnes Kirk.  She is survived by her brothers, Paul Kirk, James Kirk and Carl Kirk; her sister-in-law Maryann Kirk; her daughters Marie Leyton, Catherine Avinante, and Theresa Mauldin; her sons-in-law Eric Leyton, Eduardo Avinante, and Eric Mauldin; her grandchildren Christina Leyton, Lisa Costas, Andrew Avinante, Melanie Avinante, Matthew Avinante, Katie Mauldin, Eric Anthony Leyton and Diana Leyton; grandchildren-in-law: Bryan Costas and Kimberly Avinante; her niece Ashley Kirk; nephew James Kirk; great nieces: Haley Hunt, Giselle Hunt and Clara Hunt and great nephew Ethan Hunt.

Although Mary could have excelled in any field she chose, she took great pride in being a professional secretary/administrative assistant for the Department of the Army, where she was greatly admired and appreciated by her co-workers.

Mary’s favorite past-time was spending time with her family and laughing with her brothers. She will be greatly missed.  Mary enjoyed sewing, home decorating, chocolate tasting and taking day trips.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 11 AM until time of funeral service at 12 noon.  Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Indian Head, MD.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
