Kinnett J. Haydon, age 87, died peacefully at his home in Indian Head, Maryland, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Kinnett (Kin) was born June 27, 1938. He was the son of William Joseph Haydon and Ruth Emma Kinnett (Haydon).
Kin attended high school in Lebanon, Missouri He graduated from the University of Missouri, Rolla Campus, with a degree in chemical engineering. He followed his dream and came to Indian Head, Maryland, where he began working on the NOS (Naval Ordinance Station) Navy Propellant Plant in the 1960s.
He met and married his true love, Nancy Pearson, from Arlington, Virginia.
He and Nancy moved their jobs to NAVSEA, Crystal City, Virginia. Together they commuted daily and retired together in the 1990s.
They spent many happy years together playing bridge with their friends and traveling the country and abroad. Kin was a member of the local Jaycees and the Masons. He loved his work and solving problems. A perfectionist at heart. He could always find a way to make things work right. He was devoted to his family and will be truly missed.
Kin is survived by his sister, Caroline Windsor; his daughter, Barbara H. Foley; his son Gary J. Haydon; his grandchildren, William Ledford III, Ashley Meadows, Lauren Meadows, Carl Meadows, and Madisyn Haydon; and his great-grandchildren, William Ledford IV, Megan Ledford, Kennedy Meadows, and Zoe Meadows.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM with a memorial service at 7 PM.
He will rest beside his wife, Nancy, at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22201, at a later date.
