Joseph Paul Furka, 72, of Indian Head, Maryland passed away peacefully in his home on February 21, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.  Joe was born in Jersey City, New Jersey and moved to Southern Maryland in 1983.

He was an exceptional baseball player for many years.  He took great joy in making people laugh.  He was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan and would never say no to good Italian food.  He was a loving Pop Pop to his grandchildren Haven, Ben, and Aiden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Steven Furka and his brothers, Steven and Michael.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda, his loving children, Danielle Schaefer (spouse Kyle), Justin Anderson, and Jason Anderson (spouse Jolon), his sisters, Karen Piccillo and Nancy Furka, and his nephew Joseph Piccillo (spouse Deanna).

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 2 PM until time of memorial service at 4 PM.   There will be a celebration of life at the Indian Head Moose Lodge following the memorial service.
