John "Teddy" Theodore Lundstrom Obituary

John Theodore “Teddy” Lundstrom, 81, of Indian Head, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife and daughter.

Born April 26, 1944, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Teddy was the son of the late John T. and Mary E. Lundstrom. His family moved to Indian Head in the early 1950s, the community he would proudly call home for the rest of his life.

A graduate of Lackey High School, Teddy dedicated his life to service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and spent his career protecting others as a Prince George’s County Career Firefighter. Even in "retirement," his commitment to his community never wavered; he served as a Bailiff for Judge Chappelle in the Circuit Court of Charles County and was a lifelong member of the Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, where he served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He was also a member of the Perseverance Lodge #208 in Indian Head.

Above all his professional titles, Teddy’s favorite roles were husband, father, and grandfather. Nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandsons, J.T. and JoJo, compete in sports or participate in their various activities. He was their biggest fan and the steady heart of his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Sheila Lundstrom; his daughter, Brandi Phillips, and her husband, Brian; his cherished grandsons, Jonathan “J.T.” Phillips and Jordan “JoJo” Phillips; his brother, James “Jim” Lundstrom; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department, 73 Glymont Road, Indian Head, MD. The family will receive friends at 11:30 AM until time of Firemen's Prayers at 1:00 PM, followed immediately by a reception at the firehouse.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Teddy’s honor to the Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department or Hospice of the Chesapeake.
