John Mark Dennison, also known as “Skinner”, 58, of Indian Head, MD, passed away suddenly on December 8, 2018. Born on October 25, 1960, to the late John O. Dennison III and the late Phoebe F. Collins, he spent his childhood in Clinton, MD.
He courageously battled Sarcoidosis for several years. John enjoyed life to the fullest extent and was loved by many. He is survived by his wife Dana Marie, and you rarely saw one without the other. He adored his children, Casey Lyn Dennison, Jessica Dennison Tucker (Matthew), Lance Corporal Mark Alton Dennison USMC and stepdaughter Dianna Marie Risko. John was completely in love with his first grandchild, Blake Warren Tucker, born in August of this year. He is also survived by his sisters, Rixie Lee Dennison, Ruth Jimmink (Jack) and Robin Owens (Mike) and niece Lily Owens. He was cherished by his in-laws, Alton and Cheryl Hancock, his stepmother, Margaret Dennison and many other family members and close friends, especially JL Shontz and the Shontz Family.
John was a dedicated Washington Redskin fan, win or lose. He was a passionate hunter and loved to go trotline crabbing. He was a true outdoorsman. John was a highly skilled carpenter and enjoyed collecting many things. He and his wife traveled and lived in several states over the past 12 years. He is currently a member of the Indian Head Moose Lodge, but served as an officer of the Williamsport, MD, Lodge and was Governor of the Cheyenne, WY, Lodge.
Family and friends will be received for a celebration of John’s life, on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at the Indian Head Village Green Pavilion from 2 PM to 6 PM. Memories will be shared at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, and to honor John’s memory, take a child crabbing, fishing or hunting. He would love that. Donations can be made to the Indian Head Moose Lodge #1712, if you so desire.
