Jesse Alexander Keys, Jr. was born on May 24, 1926 in Charles County to the late Jesse and Elizabeth Keys of Nanjemoy, Maryland. Jesse Keys, Jr. was married to his beloved wife Marie Keys for 68 years. On June 22, 2022 our beloved transitioned from his earthly home to his new eternal heavenly home. Precious is the death of the Saints in the site of the Lord.
Jesse was loved by all and lived a long wonderful life for 96 years. Jesse was a faithful member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith and locally worshipped in Ironsides, Maryland. For many years he served as the technical broadcast engineer for the location church in Ironsides, Maryland.
He was educated in the Charles County Public School System. He served in the United States Army from December 15, 1944 to July 2, 1946. He received Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Meritorious Unit Award, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, and World War II Victory Ribbon. After military services, he worked as a construction worker. From March 1976, he worked for the Charles County Public School System until June 1990 and retired. He enjoyed gardening, donating vegetables to the church, neighbors and friends. He also fishing and hunting.
He leaves to cherish 4 loving daughters - Suzette Keys, Toni Washington, Shirley Keys, and Brenda Miller, one son - Gregory Montgomery, 9 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren, a devoted niece that was like his daughter (Virginia Wills) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marie, one brother Rufus Keys and five sisters, Katherine Davis, Lucille Posey, Ruby Swann, Maude Keys, and Ester Kelton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 10:30 AM until time of funeral service at 12 noon. Internment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
