WWII Veteran, James Franklin Shamblin, 94 died 12 December 2019 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, Charlotte Hall, Maryland. James was born in Charleston, West Virginia on 23 February 1925.
Preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years Louella M. Shamblin; his parents Benjamin Conley Shamblin and Estell Moore Shamblin. James was the youngest of seven children and he was preceded in death by all six of his siblings.
James is survived by his daughter Charlene Shamblin Rye (Ronnie), son Michael J. Shamblin (Terrie); grandsons James “Jay” Rye (Susan), Michael J. Shamblin (Kathy), Jeffrey Rye (Missy); granddaughter Caitlyn Shamblin; greatgrandchildren: Samantha Rye, Alexa Shamblin, Alexis Rye, Matthew Shamblin, Nicole Rye, Alex Rye and Evan Rye; great-great grandson Leighton Roof and many nieces and nephew.
Retired from Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head, Maryland as a carpenter. James loved building furniture and homes for his children and grandchildren and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, 18 December 2019 from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 noon. Internment Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
Pallbearers: Grandsons: Jay Rye, Jeffery Rye, Michael Shamblin; great-grandson Matthew Shamblin, nephew Dewayne Shamblin, adopted grandson J.R. Wheeler. Honorary Pallbearer: Private First Class Alexis Rye (Great Granddaughter).
