Gayle Elizabeth Benitez

Gayle Elizabeth Benitez, 76, passed away on May 7, 2026, at Georgetown University Hospital. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on July 27, 1949.  She was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Gifford. She graduated from Oxon Hill Senior High School in 1967 and later received her associate’s degree in IT from PG Community College.  Aside from her career in the Federal Government, she loved raising and showing purebred collies.

Gayle is survived by her husband Salatiel Benitez; sons Shawn Holman and Paul Lubin; grandchildren Emmanuel, Mashanda, and Eric; sister Kathy McClure; brother Charlie Gifford; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, and her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Kathy Gifford.

There will be a graveside service at Shiloh Cemetery in Bryans Road, Maryland on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM.
