Furman Hare Obituary

Furman Hare, 94, of Indian Head, MD, died on Sunday, August 4, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.  He was born on May 10, 1930 in Oconee County, SC, the eighth of nine children of Townes and Annie Hare.  He was a graduate of Cleveland High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.  His military career took him to Alaska, Greenland, and other exotic places.  After leaving the military, he made his career working for the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic at Andrews AFB, and later working at Bolling AFB.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with family.


Furman was preceded in death by his wife Mildred.  He is survived by his son William Hare (Mary Boyd), and daughter Joyce DeBolt (Christopher).  He adored his grandchildren Jonathan Boyd, Michael Hare, Kathleen DeLay, James DeBolt, Matthew DeBolt, and his eight great grandchildren.


Friends of Furman and Millie will be received at Williams Funeral Home in Indian Head, MD on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 10 AM with a service for the couple to follow at 11 AM.  Interment for Furman and Mildred Hare will be private.
