Frederick “Rick” Cutlip, 76, of Indian Head, Maryland, passed away on April 16, 2023. He was born on October 17, 1946 in Richwood, West Virginia. He worked at the base in Indian Head, Maryland before going to work at Naval Research Lab in Washington, D.C. until he retired at the age of 50 disability.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents William and Ida Cutlip, sisters Billy Swartz and Jean Cowger; brother Jack Cutlip.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Susan; his brother Richard “Dick” Cutlip; his daughters Bettyjo (Chuck), Sabrina (Troy deceased) and Sophia; Granddaughters Madeline (Daniel) and Summer; grandsons Austin, Sebastian, Sterling and Storm.
Rick had many skills and became a supervisor before retirement; he did small engine jobs, welding. Construction, heating and air conditioning, snow plow removal for apartments and shopping centers among many other skills. Rick was a free spirit that loved life. In addition, he was a people person and would talk to anyone for as long as they were willing to listen. He was always busy. He loved his family, friends, beer and chew, plus his dogs Bella and Trixie. He would give anyone the shirt off his back. He would give everyone a break when help was needed. He never held a grudge. Life was too short to stay angry. Rick had a heart of gold and no one could say otherwise.
Services and interment private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer foundation.
