Francis Leroy Burns, Sr.

Francis L. Burns departed this life on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at home.  Francis was born to the late Beatrice & George on January 1, 1942 in Charles County, MD.  

Francis was educated in the Charles County Public School System.  Francis was a retiree from the DC Metropolitan Police Department as a dedicated mechanic for over 30 years.  Francis also worked for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources State Park for a short time after retiring.  

In1986 Francis was licensed to ministry by the late Pastor Britt.  Francis loved to work on cars and collect them as well.  If he didn't work on your car then he would tell you what was wrong with it.  Francis also liked to fish, cut hair and remodel homes before his health started declining.  Francis always felt the need to do for others as he would go to "New Market" and buy boxes of fruit and distribute them to others.  

In addition to his parents, Francis is preceded in death by his SISTERS: Mary Clark, Sylvia Butler, Alberta Thomas, Betty Burns and BROTHERS: Earl and Edward Burns, Little Abe and Stanley "Jockey" Berry and stepdaughter Marjorie Gutrick.  Francis leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter Darlene and three sons Francis Jr. (Squeaky), Michael and Donald.  Five Grandchildren: Antonio (Tiffany), Mikey (Adrienne), Chandell, Darnell and Malik.  Four Great Grandchildren: Aaliyah, Mackenzie, Mikayla and Quentin.  One sister-in-law: Cordelia Burns and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 11 AM until time of funeral service at 12 noon.
