Emma Lou Baldwin, 93 passed away August 8, 2022. Emmy was born February 4, 1929, in Washington, DC to the late Roy Cornelius Prebble and Gladys Nell Buffington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Baldwin, Reid Prebble, Kathrine Martin, James “Jimmy” Prebble, Roy Prebble, Dorothy Prebble, Judy Wheeler, and Heath Ingle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward McPherson Baldwin, Sr., her son, Edward McPherson Baldwin, Jr. and her granddaughter, Lisa Dovall.
Emmy was a high school graduate. She was an amazing woman with a unique employment history. She worked with her husband, Ed, at North Indian Head Estates Water and Sewer. She was a pioneer for women that followed by passing the Waste Management test and working at Indian Head Waste Management. She later worked at JC Parks Cafeteria. Her careers did not define who she was, though.
Emmy was a daughter, wife, mother, sister, friend, and grandmother. She was a Christ-follower. She was a member of the Bryans Road Ladies Auxiliary. She was a faithful member of Indian Head Church of the Nazarene where she led missions and taught Sunday School classes. Emmy loved life, puzzles, going to yard sales, collecting buttons and coins, having afternoon tea, and watching “Last of the Summer Wine.” Emmy loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was full of love and life and a little bit of mischief. She loved the serenity prayer.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Lee Bryant, her son David Joseph Baldwin, son-in-law, John Mark Bryant Sr.; grandchildren, Douglas Baldwin, Richard Berg Zsakany, Jr., Tina Tapp, Dawn Cooperstein, John Mark Bryant, Jr., Crystal Amber Curasi, Holly Ridgell, Mary Ann Baldwin, Amy Elizabeth Bryant, and David Joesph Baldwin, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Cleo Dovall, Mitchell Baldwin, Rebekkah Baldwin, Summer Tapp, Zoe Tapp, Gabriella Zsakany, Matty Ridgell, Stanley Jackson, Jamison Bryant and Hailey Goad.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 9 AM until time of funeral services at 10:30 AM. Internment Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
Pallbearers will be David J. Baldwin, Richard Berg Zsakany, Gabby Zsakany, Bernie Prebble, Thomas Ridgell and Kevin Goad.
