Elizabeth Mary Busey, 85, formerly of Hollywood, Maryland died June 24, 2024.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister Barbara Garrett and Barbara’s three sons; her brother Charles "Buck" Dixon and his wife Ann and their three daughters and one son; her sister Roberta Gilliam and her one daughter; her brother James "Bobby" Dixon and his wife Joanne and one daughter; all of whom are from Charles County Maryland.  She is also survived by her son Michael William Busey and his wife Kathy of Martinsville, Virginia and their four children, Jason Fajardo and his wife Gabby; Michelle Busey, Robert Busey and Zack Busey; and her son James Timothy Busey and his wife Reyna of Gladys, Virginia and their four children James "Jeb" Busey and his wife Marie; Rachel Lloyd; Mary Sparnroft and her husband Jared and one daughter; and Daniel Robert Busey.  She is also survived by her daughter Diane Busey Hall of Benedict, Maryland and her daughters, Amanda Hall, Brittany Hall and Jessica Boyle.  She was preceded in death by her oldest son Charles "Chuck" Busey and is survived by her daughter-in-law Christene and three children Sam Gray, Michael Beau Busey and Holly Cantler.  She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was born in Washington, DC.  She was the oldest daughter of the late James Robert Dixon and Elizabeth Mae Luket Dixon.  After living a few years in Clinton, Maryland, the family moved to a farm on Bumpy Oak Road in LaPlata, Maryland where Elizabeth helped her father on the farm.  She was educated in the Charles County School System and graduated from LaPlata High School.

In 1957 she married Charles A. Busey and she gave birth to the first of her children in 1959 after which she was a homemaker until her children were grown.  She returned to school and became a medical assistant in the office of Doctors Hotchkiss and Katzan of Clinton Maryland.  She went on to manage the office of Doctor Susan Otero in Washington, DC until she retired in 2004.  

She spent a lot of her time helping her children with various projects and caring for sick friends.  She loved music and would sing in different choirs throughout her life. She loved raising flowers and had a beautiful yard.  She also loved ice cream.  You would rarely see her without her two special dogs, Midnight and Pumpkin.  She loved her dogs very much!  She brought a smile with her wherever she went and was always known to lend a helping hand.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10 AM until time of memorial service at 12 noon.
