David Matthew McKeown, Sr. was born to James William McKeown, Jr. and Francis Louise (Good) McKeown on December 15, 1934 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.
He is survived by his wife, Flora Virginia (Wright) McKeown; his sons David Matthew McKeown, Jr. and his wife Karen Layne McKeown and Mark Alan McKeown and his wife Heather Doerbecker McKeown; his grandchildren David Matthew McKeown, III, Shelby Nichole McKeown and Kellen Louise McKeown; his brother James William McKeown, III and his sister Linda Marie (McKeown) Rothgeb.
He is preceded in death by his parents: James William McKeown, Jr. and Francis Louise (Good) McKeown and his sister Francis Louise (McKeown) Willett.
Mr. McKeown served in the army at Fort Chaffee, AK & Fort Riley, KS and then he worked for the Federal Government for 37 years at St Elizabeth’s Hospital and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing where he was a foreman in the plumbing shop.
Mr. McKeown served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon at Nanjemoy Baptist Church, and as a volunteer fireman for the Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department. He also was Cub Scout Master for pack 1782.
He loved to travel, fish, watch NASCAR, go hunting with his son David and drag his son Mark around the country to go motocross racing! He adored his grandchildren and was one of the most caring and compassionate people you could ever meet and was always willing to help!
Friends will be received at the Nanjemoy Baptist Church on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM. Interment Church Cemetery.
