Daniel A. Bushey, 79, Indian Head, Maryland, passed away on March 28, 2022. He was born on June 1, 1942 in Washington, DC.
Dan graduated from Lackey High School, Class of 1960. He worked for the government in the Comptroller’s Office for 25 years. In addition to working for the government, he ran Bushey’s Taxidermy for over 45 years. He was an avid local hunter, but also enjoyed bear hunting in Maine where he served as a guide for many. Dan loved playing music. At 14 years old, he started and managed many bands over the years, continuing to play until he was diagnosed with Leukemia in December of 2021. He loved playing golf every week, all year round, up until the end of last year.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Albert Bushey and Francis Louise Bushey and his daughter, Lisa Lynne Bushey. He is survived by ex-wife and lifelong friend, Jeanne Lorraine Bushey; his son, Daniel Ayrlie Bushey; his daughter, Melissa Jean Bretz; and her husband, David Bretz. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Keaton Jean Bretz and Dempsi Grace Bretz. Being a grandfather brought so much joy to his life and he completely adored his girls. He is also survived by his brother, William Bernard Bushey and his family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 beginning at 2:00 PM until time of funeral service at 4:00 PM. There will be repast held at the Indian Head Moose Lodge at 5:00 PM to continue to celebrate his life.
