Our family is devastated to announce the death of Christine Doane Busey, or Miss Chris as she was called by many. Chris passed away suddenly on February 22, 2025 after being diagnosed with cancer this past year. She faced this disease with strength and courage as she did with all things. We are beyond words to express the sadness of her loss, but are comforted knowing that she is no longer suffering and is in the hands of the Lord with her husband Chuck and her brother Mike, along with other beloved family, friends and pets. 

Chris was born July 9, 1966, the second child and first daughter to Dianne and David Doane, sister to Michael, Candy, and Tracy. Chris was a devoted and loving mother to her three children: Samuel, Michael, and Holly. She shared her first son, Samuel, with her first husband, Samuel Gray, and later raised her children alongside her second husband, Chuck Busey, who passed away last year. Chris was also grandmother to four wonderful grandsons, Sammy, Dylan, Zeke, and Walter, who will miss their grandparents dearly. 

Chris worked as a Teaching Assistant at Gale Bailey Elementary for many years where she was able to make an amazing impact on young lives in her community. She loved little ones very much and cherished her time with them, alongside her wonderful friends and coworkers. Chris enjoyed spending time crafting and creating greeting cards. Chris also had a deep love of gardening and the outdoors, and did her best to pass her green thumb down to her children. Her home, inside and out, was always full of beautiful arrays of flowers, greenery, and vegetables. Her love of gardening truly reflected her love and passion for life. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 10 AM until 12 noon.  Funeral service will follow at Old Durham Church in Nanjemoy, MD, at 1 PM.  A celebration of life will be held immediately after her funeral service at Old Durham Church hall with food and drinks.
