Betty Lou Bastain

Betty Lou Bastain, 84 of Nanjemoy, Maryland passed away on September 3, 2020.  She was born in West Virginia on December 31, 1935.

Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Buddy, her sister Sue Silvers (Rod); two children Darlene Willett (James) and Tommy Bastain (Cyndy).  Grandchildren Randy Haley (Ann Marie) (Emily); Amy Willett (Nick); and Jamie Welch (Jeff).  Great-grandchildren Randy Jr. (Indya), Alyssa, Danielle, Evan, Aaron, Hailey, Marley, Mia, Maverick and Mason.  Great-great granddaughter Skylar and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her father Dana Aegan; mother Mabel; grandfather O.B. Fitzgerald; grandmother Sarah; brothers Harry, Richard, Billy, Bobby & Joe Aegan; great-grandson Tommy.

Betty (nicknamed Hi Sug) was a retired A&P bookkeeper.  She enjoyed having fun with her family and friends.

Betty means, "God is my oath,” which is such a perfect name for her.  She vowed to dedicate her life to her family.  She solemnly promised to watch over her family like a mother watches over her babies.  She worked hard to provide for everyone.  She sacrificed much to have less if it meant helping others.  She was feisty, I suppose many will remember her for this.  She never wavered for what she believed in.  She had a sense of humor right until the end even when she was so, so sick.  She shared many stories and her smile was infectious.  Betty was loyal to her friends and had long lasting relationships.  She will be missed, our memories we will cherish forever and her faith allows us to meet again.

The family will receive friends at the Nanjemoy Baptist Church, on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 10 AM until time of funeral services at 11 AM  Interment church cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Nanjemoy Baptist Church.
