Anthony Witcher Obituary

On February 6, 1973, Anthony B. Witcher was born to the late Berkley G. Witcher and Sandra D. Witcher (Williams) in Washington, DC.  He was the youngest of two boys. He grew up in the heart of the city and spent his childhood years with his brother and cousins at Grandma Mana’s Homemade Daycare Center while his parents were at work. Anthony was raised in the church and baptized at an early age by his grandfather Pastor Moses Williams, Jr.

His father, Berkely, a military veteran, went to his heavenly home during Anthony’s and his brother Troy's teenage years but left behind many happy memories of their relationship. They enjoyed spending time together; hunting and fishing, riding bikes in the park, roller skating, going to the beach, practicing karate, and watching Bruce Lee on TV were among their favorite activities. Pushups and sit-ups were a daily ritual in the Witcher house, something Anthony passed on to his four sons. Anthony attended Brown Junior High and Spingarn High School in Washington, DC, where he was a good student, ran track and played basketball and football for a time. Anthony completed college classes at the University of the District of Columbia and Strayer University.

Anthony was an inquisitive young man, good at figuring out problems and building new gadgets. While in school, he and his brother Troy worked with his Uncle Carl, assisting with home repairs, remodeling bathrooms and kitchens, and building decks.  Anthony became a master craftsman, and soon after a master mechanic because of his love for cars.

Anthony met Jasmin as a teenager through mutual friends. After seven wonderful years of courting, Anthony married Jasmin (Darden) Witcher on September 11, 1999. Throughout their marriage, they produced four handsome and energetic boys. Anthony Witcher, Jr. 23, Andrew Witcher 19, Aidan Witcher 11, and Abram Witcher 6.  Jasmin and Anthony knew they were soulmates early in their courtship and spent the next thirty years together and deeply in love. Anthony Witcher was a man of faith. He prayed every night and although he did not regularly attend church, he was a spiritual man who knew and loved the Lord. He was a loving and devoted husband, an amazing father of four sons, an awesome brother and a caring son. He was extremely protective of his family and those he loved. He was also exceedingly kind and compassionate. People would often speak of how kind and generous he was. He often engaged in conversation with complete strangers because people gravitated to him.

His love of cars, big and small, always brought onlookers and great conversation. Anthony Witcher had a LOVE for fast cars, The faster the better. Fast and loud. He could be heard from around the block. Anthony most recently enjoyed his RC remote-controlled cars and planes. He loved spending time with his best friend and brother Troy. They enjoyed talking politics, shopping for the latest gadgets for the kids, and remodeling Troy’s investment property. He was also an undercover Momma’s boy. He cherished his mother and their time together. He loved spending time with her and spoiling her. Most recently he purchased a peach tree for his mother and expressed that he knew it would bring her lots of joy over the years to come and many peaches to enjoy. Anthony and Troy equally spoiled her, and she adored them.

Anthony loved his job at the Washington Gas Company, where he served as a Fleet Director. He was excited about his position and said he worked with the best team in the company. He spoke often of how fortunate he was to work for such a great company and how he planned to retire with good benefits and a decent pension plan. Anthony described himself as a simple man. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, enjoying a good meal, playing video games, or watching a good movie.

His eldest son recently married and Anthony was planning to purchase a larger home to have plenty of room for his future grandchildren. He was so proud of all of his boys and he loved and was fervently loved by his wife of 24 years. Anthony will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him. He leaves to cherish in his memory, his wife Jasmin Wither of Indian Head, MD, Sons: Anthony Witcher Jr and wife Kalifar (Benard) Witcher of Frostburg MD, Andrew Witcher, Aidan Witcher, and Abram Witcher of Indian Head, MD: mother Sandra Witcher of Fort Washington, MD, brother Troy Witcher of Waldorf, MD, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends.
