Anne Elizabeth Clemens Murphy died peacefully at home in Indian Head, MD, early Sunday morning on October 20, 2019.
Anne is survived by her husband Jim Murphy, daughter Kelli Forbes, son-in-law Carter Forbes, grandchildren Alivia and Landon Forbes, brother Randy Clemens, his wife Noreen and his immediate family, mother-in-law Iris Murphy, brother-in-law Patrick Murphy and his wife Connie, brother-in-law Dennis Murphy, sister-in-law Lynn Murphy, and their immediate families. She was preceded in death by her son Jimmie Murphy, parents Randall and Janice Clemens, and father-in-law Melvin Murphy.
Anne was born on May 19, 1946, in New York, NY, to Randall and Janice Clemens. She was an excellent tennis player and, while attending Elizabethtown High School, in PA, won the state doubles championship. Like her parents, both educators, Anne was dedicated to education. She graduated from Bloomsburg State Teachers College in Bloomsburg, PA, in 1967, with a Bachelor’s in Education and earned her Master’s equivalent. She taught at Indian Head Elementary School in Charles County, MD, where she was beloved within the school and across the community. Anne was loved and cherished by many and will be greatly missed.
Anne was extremely dedicated to her family, friends, and community. Everyone who knew her would quickly tell you that she was the kindest, sweetest, and most caring person. She was full of boundless love and selflessly gave to all of those around her.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the funeral home. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens at 1:30 PM. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering at the Moose Lodge in Indian Head immediately after the burial.
