Alice Marie Newcomb, 93, of Waldorf, MD, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, while visiting her daughter during the holidays. She was born November 7, 1932, in Kingman County, KS, to Madaline and Fred Klaver of Belmont, KS. Alice is preceded in death by her parents Fred W., and Madaline Klaver; brother Fred W., Jr., (Hons); brother Eugene “Pat”; sister Betty Klaver Fieser; second husband Fred G. Newcomb; and son Cary J. Meilert.
She graduated from Kingman High in 1950. In 1952 she met John Meilert while working at KG&E, and they married in 1953. They raised three children, Suzanne, Stephanie, and Cary. They were married for 15 years. With her second marriage to Fred G. (Fritz) Newcomb, they had a daughter Samantha, as well as a combined family with Fritz's children, Fred and Allison Newcomb. Alice was dedicated in her career and a top real estate agent reaching the million-dollar club. She not only sold residential homes but land and commercial property. She was still getting calls from past clients for repeat business into her 80's. She worked for Delta, Remax, Jobin, and Residential Plus real estate companies in the Waldorf and surrounding areas of Maryland.
Alice was an avid bridge player in person and online and loved to play the slot machines. She was a lover of animals of which she had many dogs throughout her lifetime, her last two being yorkies. Alice had a vivacious personality, a great sense of humor (like her father Fritz,) and was known to enjoy a good party, whether hosting or attending one. Since she grew up on a farm and had to help with meals from a young age, she developed great culinary skills. She could bake a delicious homemade cherry pie from scratch.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Fields of Virginia; Stephanie Randlett (Doug) of Arkansas; Samantha Shelton (Jay) of Maryland; Fred L. Newcomb of Mississippi; and Allison Newcomb of Maryland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Blake Holder (Maggie); Shayla Potter (Zac); Danielle Sawyer (Neil); as well as 6 great grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life and burial will be in Kansas at a date to be announced.
