Albert Dennis Hayes

Albert Dennis Hayes, 71 of Nanjemoy, Maryland passed away peacefully at Charles Regional Medical Center on September 19, 2023.

Born July 10, 1952 at La Plata Hospital (old), La Plata, Maryland.  Lived in Indian Head, Maryland.  He was the son of the late Charles D. Hayes and late Bessie Fay Pickle Hayes of Indian Head, Maryland.  He is predeceased by brothers, JB, Paul E., Thomas E., Gilbert and C. Dean.  He was a stepfather to the late George W. (Sonny) Bassford III.

Albert is survived by his wife Susan of Nanjemoy, four sisters Oakie, Ruby, Susie (Claude) and Brenda and two brothers, Harold and Carl (Jenny).  He is also survived by a host of relatives and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Albert was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, boating, visiting with friends and most of all he enjoyed spending time with family.  He also enjoyed old western movies, especially those starring John Wayne.  He loved cracking jokes and telling stories of his many adventures, especially his trips to Alaska and Maine for bear hunting and many other places.  He was a long-time member of the Mattawoman Rod and Gun Club.  Albert enjoyed life to the fullest!

Albert graduated from Lackey High School, Indian Head, MD in 1973.  He was employed for 30 years with the Federal Government and throughout his career he received many official recognition service awards for outstanding performance.  He retired from Indian Head Naval Facilities Engineering Command December 2015 as a Pipefitter/Maintenance Mechanic.  He was also an accomplished carpenter.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 2 PM until time of memorial service at 4 PM.  Interment will be private.
