Virginia Reid Lund

Virginia Reid Lund, 82, passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2018.  She was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 17, 1935, to the late LaFayette and Thelma Reid.

Virginia graduated from Atherton High School (‘53) and attended Nazareth College of Kentucky.  In 1958, she met and married her husband of 59 years, Arthur “Sonny” Lund, Jr., while he was stationed at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, for basic training.    

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.  She is survived by her brother James L. Reid (Judy), her daughters Susan Von Hoven (Mike) of Louisville, KY, and Sarah Miller (Danny) of Indian Head, MD, and granddaughters Jill Von Hoven and Jourdyn Miller as well as other relatives.

A life-long Methodist, Virginia was a member of the Crescent Hill United Methodist Church in Kentucky and then the Indian Head United Methodist Church in Maryland, where she served in many leadership roles.  She worked briefly as the Assistant to the President of Kurphees Paint Company in Louisville and a teller at Maryland National Bank.  Thereafter, she devoted herself to motherhood and supporting her husband in the running of the family business, Bryans Road Building Supply, where she served as Vice President.

A public viewing will be held at Indian Head United Methodist Church on Friday, March 2nd, from 5-8 PM.  The funeral service will take place at the church on Saturday, March 3rd, at 9:30 AM followed by burial at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
