UPDATE -- Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery -- Friday, June 30, 2017 @ 9:30 AM.  Everyone is to meet at the cemetery at 9:15 AM.

Ronald Lee Bennett, age 65, of Fort Washington, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, Maryland.  Ronald was born to the late Richard Bennett and surviving Lucille (Simmons) Lakip on January 11, 1952.  He is preceded in death by his brother Timothy Bennett.  Ronald is survived by his wife Theresa A. (Orban) Bennett, his sister Susan (Bennett) Simpson, his brother Linwood Bennett and his nephews Richard Bennett, Brad Bennett and Michael Bennett.

Ronald Bennett served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 where he was honorably discharged.  After serving, Ronald moved to Riverdale, MD where he began working for the United Parcel Service as a loader and sorter.  It was during this time he met Theresa A. Orban.  After moving to Fort Washington, MD, Ronald and Theresa were married on January 21, 1985.  In 1991 Ronald and Theresa took custody of his late brother’s son Richard Bennett where they raised him as their own.  Ronald later retired from the United Parcel Service in June 2000.

Ronald truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with family and friends, attending to his yard, taking care of animals and providing for his wife and nephew.  Ronald could make friends with anyone and had the uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.  He will be remembered by his family as a kind-hearted, very hardworking man that placed his family and friends before anything else, even himself.
