Robbie grew up in Charles County, Maryland, living in Indian Head and La Plata with his family.  He attended high school at La Plata High and wrestled on varsity for the school team from 2009 to 2012.  He was a dedicated athlete and earned the South Region Championship for his weight class of 112lb in 2011.  He was also a member of the 2011 Maryland State Dual Meet and State Tournament Championship.  He was a Silver Medalist in freestyle wrestling during the 2010-2011 AAU Junior Olympics.

He graduated from La Plata High School in 2012.  After high school he went to West Virginia Tech on an athletic scholarship for wrestling and belonged to Phi Kappa Tau fraternity where he volunteered to help the homeless.  He also attended the College of Southern Maryland.  In 2016 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a mortarman.  He graduated from the Marine Corps Boot Camp in Parris Island, South Carolina on September 16, 2016, then attended Marine Infantry School graduating in November 2016.  He was in the 1st Battalion 8th Marines and was deployed to Okinawa, during which he visited areas in Japan and Korea.
