Reed Smith, 67, of Marbury, MD, passed away at home on March 29, 2018, surrounded by family. He was born August 14,1950 in Baltimore, MD. After graduating from high school, he joined the US Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. After his service he continued working with the Navy at the Naval Research Laboratory as a computer specialist. He retired after 33 years of federal service.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalie Jones; his father, Bud Smith; his step-father, Kenneth Jones; and his brother, Stanley Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathy Smith; his children Katie Froneberger (Josh) of Hampton, VA, Reed Smith (Candace) of LaPlata, MD, and Kenny Smith (Tammie) of La Plata, MD; his sister Sharon Gilliam of Dallas, GA, his brother Philip Smith of Pasadena, TX, 8 grandchildren, and many more family and friends.
Reed lived an extraordinary life filled with hobbies and adventure. He was always eager to learn something new and to share his knowledge (and tools) with his family and friends. He was a genuine person with steadfast morals and a fierce believer in realizing your dreams. His presence will be missed by many but we know we can always find him when we look to the stars.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the funeral home, from 12 PM until time of services at 4 PM.
