Margie Ruth Alvey

Margie Ruth (Riedel) Alvey, 76 went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2017.  Margie was born on September 17, 1941 in Wheeling, WV to Paul Riedel, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth (Kreis) Riedel.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Paul Riedel, Jr.

Her life was a testament to her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by her unselfish service and love to her family and everyone she met.  She cherished her membership and service at White Plains Baptist Church.  Margie was a woman of many talents.  She loved to cook, sew, draw and could fix anything.  Her family and friends were the recipients of beautifully crocheted blankets made with love.  Her latest hobby was bird watching and enjoyed the many birds who visited the feeders in her backyard.  She was a devoted Washington Nationals fan.  She also raised numerous cats and dogs including her adored cat, Benny.

Margie was devoted to her family.  Her legacy of selfless love and kindness will always be cherished by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Camden Alvey of Waldorf; children Jackie Alvey Koerbel and Joseph Jr of Waldorf and Jerry and his wife Lisa of Indian Head; her granddaughters Megan and Paige Koerbel and Courtney and Kaylee Alvey; brother and sister-in-law Philip and Patricia Riedel of LaPlata; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Douglas and Adele Alvey of New Bern, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her viewing will be held at White Plains Baptist Church in Pomfret, MD on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 10 AM – 12 PM with a service celebrating her life beginning at 12 PM.  Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity supporting hurricane relief efforts in Texas or Florida.
