Joseph E. Craven, Jr. (81), of Indian Head, MD, passed away peacefully at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, FL on Sunday, February 17, 2019.
Born January 4, 1938, Joe served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He worked for the Department of the Navy in Indian Head as an Electronics Technician for 37 years.
Joe enjoyed fishing, crabbing, boating, dancing, and playing cards. He loved the beach and traveling. He treasured every moment with his family, especially his four granddaughters. He loved life and was always up for a good time.
Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances Craven, his two children, son Joseph J. Craven and daughter-in-law Sharon of Marbury, MD and daughter Joy Craven Creelman and his son-in-law Scott of Indian Head, MD, his brother Lester Craven of Indian Head, brother-in-law Larry Crandall of Indian Head, four grandchildren, Lacey, Shelby, Charlotte, and Madeleine as well as his nieces, nephew and a host of extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Joseph E. Craven Sr. and Maxine H. Runion (Craven), and sister, Ester Crandall.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home in Indian Head. A private burial will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf on Wednesday, February 27.
