James Edward Andrews Sr., Husband and Father journeyed home into the paradise of rest with his family by his side on Friday, July 13 at the age of 79.
Born on November 23, 1938 in the District of Columbia. He was the son of James Ervin and Esther Andrews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Charles Curry of Arizona.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rose Marie and three sons, James Edward Jr. (Sandy), Charles Raymond (Lisa), Brian Clay all from Maryland and one daughter Cynthia Marie (Richard) from Maine, two brothers John Andrews of Oklahoma and Donald Curry of Pennsylvania and eleven grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He began his civil service career at the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, Maryland in 1960 working as a propellant handler, warehouseman and stockman. Later promoted to woodworker then to packaging specialist as a Hazardous Material Center Manager. He retired in 2004 after 44 years of dedication receiving many rewards for work performance.
Jim was a man of many talents and interests including gardening, woodworking, antique automobiles and bluegrass music in which he was a talented spoon player. He excelled at everything he did.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ and loved God with all his heart teaching his children to strive to lead a good life.
His love and devotion to his family was deep rooted and was a priority. He had strong values in making the best out of life. His smile lit up those around him and remains buried in our hearts.
He will sorely be missed by all who knew him.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday July 20, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. On Saturday, July 21, 2018, there will be a viewing from 9 AM until time of funeral service at 10 AM. Interment Trinity Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland.
