Helen Virginia Winstead

Helen Virginia Winstead, 89, of Indian Head, MD, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Genesis Nursing Home in Severna Park, MD. 

She was born on November 11, 1928 in Richmond, VA to Henry and Alice Griffin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her four sisters and six brothers. 

Helen was a generous and loving person who always looked to help others.  She was full of energy and life and loved shopping and taking walks to the local drug store, C & D Carryout and Ely's Department store.  Her favorite things were chocolate, coffee and her "stories." (soap operas).

She is survived by her three children, Robert Winstead, Jr. (Cricket), Sandra Posey (JD) and Michael Winstead (Linda); grandchildren, Nicholas Bayer, Jr. and Ashley Lilly (David); and great-grand children, Lanna Bayer, Isabelle Lilly, Zachary Lilly, Katelyn Lilly and Charlotte Lilly.

Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 3-5 PM.  A short memorial service will be held at 5 PM.  Repast will be held at the Bryans Road Fire Department immediately following.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
