Floyd John Buck, Sr, 83, of Indian Head, MD passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 in Waldorf, MD. Born October 7, 1934 in Indian Head, MD, he was the son of the late Oliver George Buck and Florence Marie Buck. He was the husband of the late Joyce Buck whom he was married to for 62 years.
He loved being outside and excelled in sports, most notably basketball, baseball and softball. He earned numerous awards as a member of the Indian Head Indians Baseball Team and won a National Championship in softball. He was also known for wearing short pants regardless of the time of year. He retired from Southern Maryland Oil Company after a very successful career that exceeded 50 years. A distinguished annual company award honors his name and commitment to his many years of dedicated service. He was most proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his children Johnny Buck; Terri Freeman (Gene); Michael Buck (Glenda); daughter-in-law Karen Buck; sister-in-law Alice Jean Lambdin (Richard); nine grandchildren, Tina Schneider (Ryan), Sandra Soria (Alex), Crystal Simpson (Jerry), Daryl Seeling (Brian), Christopher Buck, Michelle Buck, Lauren Trilli (Justin), Michael Buck Jr. (Autumn), and Melanie Buck; fourteen great-grandchildren, Leah Buck, Lily Buck, Carter Trilli, Landon Trilli, Taylor Schneider, Aiden Schneider, Aria Seeling, Bryce Seeling, JD Kiley, Dominic Kiley, Marley Kiley, Jada Phipps, Massiela Soria, Julianna Soria and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Joyce Buck, son Darrell Buck and daughter-in-law Diane Buck; brothers Kenneth Buck and George Buck, and sister Lillian Folkers.
The family will receive friends at Marbury Baptist Church, 4670 Bicknell Road, Marbury, MD on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A viewing will be held at 11 AM followed by funeral services at 12 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018. Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Marbury Baptist Church.
