Christopher "Chris" Balas Obituary

Christopher “Chris” Luke Balas, 53, died peacefully Sunday, March 17, 2019.   He was born in Washington, DC, July 9, 1965, the son of John and Sylvia Balas.

Chris was a loving and devoted father, beloved son and brother, and friend to many.  He was a HUGE Washington Redskins, Capitals, and Nationals fan and loved to remind everyone that the Capitals won the Stanley Cup in 2018!  He always cheered on the Maryland Terrapins and Clemson Tigers.  He was so happy to attend the 2017 College Football National Championship game with his daughter, Erica.  Chris always had a huge smile for everyone and always made time to help others.  He will be dearly missed.

Chris worked in sales the majority of his career and it was often said he could sell a ketchup popsicle to a lady wearing white gloves.

Chris is survived by daughter, Erica Reagan Balas, mother, Sylvia Balas, brother, John “Jack” Balas (Carol), sister Valerie Shipton (Paul), and nieces Jennifer and Stephanie Balas, Lauren and Alexandra Shipton, cousin, Sheri Winters, and former spouse, Sarah Balas.  Chris was predeceased by his father, John M. Balas Jr. and sister-in-law, Toni Balas.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, March 28 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 30 Mattingly Avenue, Indian Head, MD, 20640
