Charles “Charlie” Garner Seldon was born October 14, 1938 at Brandon Plantation, Prince George, Virginia to his late parents Thomas H. Seldon Sr., and Evelyn J. Seldon.  He was the third of seven children and was preceded in death by his brother Oliver P. Seldon, Sr.

In 1943 the family moved to Charles City County, Virginia.  As a teenager Charlie enjoyed fishing, hunting and helping his father on the farm.

Charlie graduated from Ruthville High School in 1956 and enlisted into the United States Air Force shortly thereafter.  During his twenty years in the Air Force, Charlie attended numerous technical schools.  He was assigned to various Air Force bases in the States: two locations in TX and MT; one each in MS, and FL; and several overseas locations: three in Germany; one each in Italy, Holland and Thailand.  He worked as a Radio Intercept Operator, Airborne Radio Operator, Ground Radio Operator, and Aircraft Maintenance technician during his military career.

In October 1966 while assigned in Italy, he married his love Annie Wohlleben.  Charlie was a loyal, devoted and loving husband until her passing December 30, 2017 following a long illness.

During his Air Force career, Charlie received several Bronze Stars; the Good Conduct Medal with three Oak Leaf clusters; the Berlin Medal and two Vietnam War Medals. e retired from the Air Force in 1978.

Charlie loved and enjoyed life to its fullest.  He enjoyed fishing with family and close friends; reading; grilling and smoking fish, meats and vegetables.  He enjoyed cooking and loved all kinds of kitchen gadgets.  Charlie was fun-loving and had the ability to find humor in almost every circumstance.

After retiring from the Air Force, Charlie and Annie spent several years in Copenhagen, Denmark, and subsequently made their home in Indian Head, MD.  Charlie worked at the Bolling Air Force Base Morale, Welfare and Recreation department as a bowling machine mechanic, and retired from that position in 2006.

Charlie was baptized into the Christian faith at a young age.  He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sisters Carolyn Seldon and Evelyn (Neal) Black; three brothers Thomas (Tom) Jr., Kenneth (Joan), and Ernest Seldon III; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, Walt (Marsha) Robinson, Jerome Gray, and Bill Raneo.

After a long and arduous battle with cancer, Charlie departed this life on September 26, 2018. Although he has left an empty place in our hearts, Charlie will always be loved; he will be missed dearly and never, never forgotten.
