Barbara Jean Hitt, of Port Tobacco, MD, departed this life on July 27, 2018 at age 79. The daughter of Asbury R. Ridner and Elsie E. Ridner, she was born in Washington, DC on September 6, 1939. She was the sister to the late Alison “Butch” R. Ridner and late Kathleen V. Ridner.
In life, she held the Catholic virtue of service to others close to her heart and sought to provide for the common good throughout her years. She will be remembered for her works and humanity. A member of the class of 1957, she proudly attended Archbishop Neale School in LaPlata, MD. She would later go on to attend Marywood College in Scranton, PA.
She was the widow of the late Richard C. Trimble, with whom she had three children: Karan Trimble Sellner, Kathy R. Painter (nee Trimble), and the late Kimberly E. Bowie (nee Trimble). She later remarried and raised her family with Harvey H. Hitt of Culpepe,r VA, who also preceded her in death, and with whom she had two children, David Hitt (deceased), and Amanda Hitt.
She is the grandmother to Jessica K. Trueblood (nee Fry), Erin E. Gordon (nee Bowie), Matthew D. Fry, Courtney E. Bowie, and Caleb M. Fry. She is great grandmother to Dillon and Blake Gordon.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, August 2, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The funeral will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, LaPlata, MD at 10 AM.
Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD, with repass to follow.
