Thomas J. Collins

Thomas J. Collins, 83, of Barnesville, PA, peacefully left us to be with his best friend and wife, Monica, on the third of December, 2017 in La Plata, MD after a short illness.  His children and their families were with him.

Tom was born on December 27, 1933 to Peter & Letitia Collins in Mahoney City, PA.  He attended Catawissa Irish Church & School through grade school and graduated from Mahanoy City School before joining the USN to serve in the Korean War.

Anyone that met Tom knew he was a hard working family man with an always active social life.  He had weekly outings with friends and was an active member of the American Legion, AMVETS, the Moose, and the VFW.

Tom was a man of great faith and attended Saturday evening services at Saint Richard’s Catholic Church in Barnesville, PA.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Donna Stone; his son, Thomas Patrick Collins; granddaughter, Shannon Stone; grandson, Thomas Collins; great-grandson, Camden Bishop; his sisters, Mary Klein and Tish Dougherty; and his best buddy, a chocolate lab named Trouble.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Monica Collins (nee Balcavage); infant daughter, Beth; and his siblings, John, James, Joe, Helen, and Margaret.

The family will receive friends for a celebration of life on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, beginning at 4 PM at the Indian Head Moose (11 Town Street, Indian Head, MD 20640).
