Leo Joseph Peters Jr, 85, of Indian Head, MD, died October 14, 2017. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 5, 1931.
Preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Betty Peters. son, Michael J. Peters. parents, Leo J. Peters Sr and Irma Mae Probert Peters. siblings, Richard Peters and Dorothy Bauler.
He is survived by daughter, Elizabeth A. Peters. son, Leo J. Peters III (Lisa). daughter in law, Melony Peters, grandchildren, Jennifer Weedon (Tom), Nicole Robinson, Brandy Hinskton, Jaime Brown, Melissa Ford, Jessicah Lawrence, Josh Peters and 10 great-grandchildren.
Leo served in the Vietnam War and retired E-8 Master Sgt in the US Army. He worked Civil Service at Ft. Belvoir and NSWC Indian Head where he later retired. He served a total of 35 years to his country.
He was a caring, sensitive, and humorous man who enjoyed holidays and family gatherings. His favorite teams were the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He loved cooking, reading, crafts, woodworking, and being outside.
A viewing will he held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 12 PM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 1 PM. Internment church cemetery.
