John "Bill" William Jenkins

John William “Bill” Jenkins, 78, of Pomfret, MD died October 1, 2017.  He was born on November 15, 1938 in Washington, D.C., son of the late George Plowden Jenkins and Mary Beecher Jenkins. He grew up in Indian Head, Maryland and attended Lackey High School. Bill enlisted in the Army in 1956 before attending and graduating from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.  He retired from the Department of the Navy in 1992. He was a member of the Navy Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head serving as Department Head for Information Systems.

In his spare time, Bill had a passion for playing baseball, bird hunting, dog training, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pomfret, MD.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Rasimowicz Jenkins; two sons, John W. “Bill” (Tina) Jenkins, Jr. of Bluemont, VA, and Joseph P. (Joyce) Jenkins of Robbinsville, NJ; one daughter, Patricia J. (Mitch) Agate of Morganza, MD; seven grandchildren: Jillian, Megan, and Jack Jenkins; Katie and Jayson Agate; and Samantha and Virginia Jenkins; and two sisters, Jennifer J. (Finis) McGraw of Welcome, MD and Suzanne (Michael) Martini of Adamstown, MD.  Bill was predeceased by his sister Judith (John) Bloom of Indian Head, MD.

Viewing on Wednesday, October 4, from 1pm – 4pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pomfret, MD.  Viewing on Thursday, October 5, 10am – 11am followed by 11am funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pomfret, MD.  Burial will also take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
