James Harold McDonough of Indian Head, Maryland passed away in LaPlata, MD on November 4, 2017. James was born February 28, 1933, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of James Sumner McDonough and Helen Julia McDonough. He was predeceased by his wife Anna Marie McDonough. He is survived by sons James M. McDonough, John K. McDonough and daughter Kathleen McDonough Howell, sister Margaret E. Quade and brothers Frank McDonough and Joseph M. McDonough and eight beloved grandchildren.
James and his family moved to Brandywine, MD at age 7 where he graduated from Gwynn Park High School in 1951. He joined the Navy in July, 1951 and served in the Pacific from Pearl Harbor to all of the Marshall Islands. He returned to civilian life in June, 1953 and began his 37 year career as a cable slicer/analyzer with Bell Atlantic/C&P/Verizon. He served 18 years on the Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire/Rescue squad and donated 100 pints of blood. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and the VFW. He loved hunting, fishing, golf, and the camaraderie of friends and family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 10 AM until time of service at 12 PM. Internment Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
